Information for Researchers
An appointment can be booked to study in the Cathedral from Monday to Friday 10am to 1pm and 1.45pm to 4.45pm. All researchers will need to make an appointment and bring a letter of introduction.
A catalogue of the medieval manuscripts has been published: R.M. Thomson, A descriptive Catalogue of the Medieval Manuscripts in Worcester Cathedral Library, D. S. Brewer 2001, with a contribution on the bindings by Michael Gullick.
The Library's Collections
The Cathedral Library holds the following questions, which can be used for research.
The Medieval Manuscript and Incunabula Collections
298 medieval manuscripts, which range mainly from the tenth to the fifteenth centuries, and 40 incunabula
The Post-medieval Printed Collection
6,600 books collected by the clergy over the centuries from 1540 to the end of the 19th century.
The Modern Library Reference Collection
Modern textbooks for staff, volunteers and researchers.
The Music Collection
Music and music archives of the Cathedral and organists.
The Cathedral Archives
The Cathedral’s own archives from the Middle Ages to modern times.
Parish Libraries
The libraries of St. Nicholas (Worcester), Bromsgrove, Feckenham, and Great Malvern churches
The Cathedral holds many archives relating to the Cathedral priory and later the Dean and Chapter.
