Volunteering with Worcester Cathedral
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Worcester Cathedral. The Cathedral has a community of around 300 volunteers who give their time and contribute to enriching the life of the Cathedral.
Volunteer Open Days
Before applying for a volunteer role, you will need to attend one of our Volunteer Open Days.
These sessions introduce you to the Cathedral, outline the different volunteering opportunities available, and explain what each role involves. You will also hear more about our recruitment process, have the opportunity to ask questions, and explore which role might be right for you.
Book into one of our Volunteer Open Days by following here: Worcester Cathedral Volunteer Open Event

Gardening
Assisting in maintaining and developing the public and private gardens on the Cathedral grounds.
Volunteer opportunities in other areas of the Cathedral may also be available.
Availability of Roles
Some volunteer roles have a set weekly commitment (for example Welcomers and the Shop team). As these roles have specific scheduled commitments, opportunities may not always be immediately available.
Other areas of the Cathedral, such as Events and the Learning team, offer a more flexible approach depending on upcoming activities and programmes.
During the Volunteer Open Day, we will explain which roles currently have opportunities available and help you explore options to suit your interests and availability.
What happens next?
After attending an Open Day, those wishing to proceed will be invited to complete an application form and attend an interview and shadowing session.
If you’re a good fit for the role, we will move forward with the Church of England Safer Recruitment process for the volunteer position you have chosen. This includes providing references, completing safeguarding training and, where appropriate, a DBS check.
Before starting, all volunteers attend an induction session and complete any required role-specific training.
Please note we ask all volunteers to select one role initially. Once you are settled and confident in your role, there may be an opportunity to explore additional roles within the Cathedral if you wish.
If you have any questions, please email: volunteering@worcestercathedral.org.uk
