Young Artists Bring Christmas Cheer to Worcester Cathedral

We're delighted to announce the winner of our Christmas Card Competition, held in collaboration with Nunnery Wood High School. Over the summer holidays, children from the school were invited to submit festive designs inspired by the Cathedral, and the winning entry has now been revealed.

Year 9 student, Isobel Skilbeck, aged 14, was selected as the winner for her charming illustration of Worcester Cathedral blanketed in snow peeking out from behind a beautifully decorated Christmas Tree. The artwork beautifully captures the spirit of the season and the majesty of the historic building. The winning design has now been professionally printed and is available for purchase in the Cathedral shop.

Isobel, said: "I love art, and I’m studying it at GCSE. The design took me around 12 hours with all the detail, and I was doing it in the summer, so it was hard to find the inspiration to draw the Cathedral in the snow! But I’m so pleased to see it printed professionally and on sale in the Cathedral shop now.”

As well as her design being the official Cathedral Christmas Card this year, Isobel also won a voucher, chocolates and other goodies from the Cathedral shop, and the runners up also won shop goodies. In second place was Maria Szymanska, aged 15, and in third place Emma Collins, aged 13.

Matthew Hall, Chief Operating Officer at Worcester Cathedral, Added:
"Isobel’s artwork captures the beauty of the Cathedral at Christmas perfectly. We’re thrilled to feature her design on our official card this year, and we hope it brings joy to everyone who receives it."
