Creating a Calligraphic Folding Book

Saturday 28 September | 10.30am-4.30pm

Learn to write an attractive  and versatile Celtic style inspired by manuscripts from the medieval period, including the Book of Kells and the Lindisfarne Gospels.

This well-established one day course is suitable for all levels (age 18+) from beginners to more advanced artists with beautiful images for you to explore.

The morning session will concentrate on gaining fluency in writing these attractive letterforms using broad edged pens and exemplar sheets for guidance, with both individual and group tuition as you progress. Some previous artistic experience may be useful but it is not essential.

In the afternoon session you can write a chosen quotation, saying or poetry extract from texts provided or from your own choice. Celtic illustrations provided may be added to develop your project in the form of a folding concertina book to take home.

A welcome tea or coffee and all essential art materials will be provided.

£45 per student and 10 places are available.
