Devotional Recital Maundy Thursday

Worcester Cathedral Youth Choir, accompanied by the Musical and Amicable Society, will be giving a devotional performance of Paul Carr’s Stabat Mater on Maundy Thursday 17 April at 12.15pm. Stabat Mater is a 13th-century Christian hymn to the Virgin Mary that portrays her suffering as a mother during the crucifixion of her son Jesus Christ, and Paul Carr’s 2017 setting of this text brings a 21st-century radiance to this ancient poem. Accompanied by strings, oboes and harp, the sonorities of this choral performance convey a gentle beauty with moments of ravishing intensity.
All are welcome to attend this free concert, with donations welcomed at a retiring collection. The recital will conclude at around 1pm.
