Spring Blossom Painting and Drawing Workshop

Enjoy a day of painting and drawing introducing acrylics,and inspired by spring blossom and foliage in the Undercroft Learning Centre of Worcester Cathedral. This one-day course is suitable for all levels from beginners to more experienced artists. Perhaps you have enjoyed art previously and would like to renew your experience, or you may be interested in further developing sketching and painting skills. Whatever your starting point, there will be plenty of one-to-one tuition and group demonstrations to help you.    

After a welcome cup of tea or coffee, the workshop will begin with tuition in basic drawing techniques to help you to compose a painting. The course includes reference to major artists including Monet and Van Gogh, with an oriental twist in the foliage painting and gilding of Japanese screens. Acrylic paints will be used with advice on colour mixing and application. Acrylics are user-friendly and versatile and can be applied as thin as watercolour or thicker, as in the texture of oils. The afternoon session will include a gilding demonstration. Contact Elizabeth Beattie to book a place. 

Course fee: £45 including all painting and drawing materials. All fees to be paid on the day of the course by cheque, cash or bank transfer. There are 12 places available.
Tutor: Dr Elizabeth Beattie is a Fine art graduate and art historian. She is an experienced artist and tutor.
