Thomas Tomkins at 450: Celebrating Worcester's Organist
In celebration of the 450th anniversary of the birth of Thomas Tomkins (former organist of Worcester Cathedral), we are delighted to join with the Worcestershire Organists' Association to hold an event on the afternoon of Saturday 11th June.
Starting at 1.30pm, the event will include an organ recital, a talk by Professor John Caldwell, refreshments in Thomas Tomkins' house on College Green and a special Choral Evensong sung by the Cathedral Choir, featuring works by Tomkins. There will also be opportunities for attendees to take a tour of the Cathedral or view relevant documents in the Cathedral Library.
The event is free of charge to attend, although donations will be welcomed on the day itself.
